Announcing the 2012 Atlanta Opera Volunteer Award Recipients!!
On April 23, The Atlanta Opera hosted its 2012 Volunteer Reception. It was a great honor for us to be able to express gratitude to all who donate their time to The Atlanta Opera.
It is no secret that the success of our organization depends on our devoted volunteers, who believe in Atlanta and the role The Atlanta Opera plays in our community.
At the event, Dennis Hanthorn recognized three individuals who have made a tremendous impact this year, and who continue to be loyal and enthusiastic advocates for The Atlanta Opera.
This year’s recipient of the Rachel Rosen Lehmann award was Carter Joseph, one of the Atlanta Opera’s greatest ambassadors.
Carter was recognized not only for his profound enthusiasm for opera, but because he shares his knowledge with anyone and everyone who will listen – those who are fellow aficionados, and those who have never been.
He teaches classes, he hosts workshops and lectures, he extends extra tickets to colleagues and first-timers, and he comes to every production.
His enthusiasm is so contagious, that he can walk into a room of neigh-sayers, and come out with a handful of converts.
We provided Special Recognition to Dave Stevens, of Stevens Internet Productions, who through his generosity and unique skill set, has helped expand our audiences, and explore new territories in production.
For the past two seasons, Dave has helped us propel the 24–Hour Project into a multimedia event that has truly distinguished us from other opera companies, and placed us on the national stage.
He has donated his time and resources to produce online video content, a live webcast, and mentor young film students in the art of live webcast production.
His dedication has been an invaluable tool for marketing The Atlanta Opera and educating the public about the art form.
The 2012 Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Kevin Dew. Whether assisting with ShopOpera or education programs, transporting artists, or helping with filing projects in the office, Kevin always exemplifies positivity and kindness.
Whenever we need someone to interact with the public, we know that people will come away feeling like they had a positive experience if they interact with Kevin Dew. His enthusiasm and reliability make him invaluable to The Atlanta Opera.
Thank you to all Atlanta Opera Volunteers for your time and support.
